We get together like a choir,
to acquire what we desire. — Jay-Z
Sometime earlier this year my laptop died. In July 2008 I sent a letter to my friends and family asking for money to help me buy a new computer: the computer I wanted, the computer I didn't have money to buy, the computer of my dreams. In return for a donation ranging from $5 to $100 I offered to put the donator's name in the footer of every email sent from my new computer; based on the amount given, one could have their name linked to a website or even include an animated image. Anyone who gave me $5, I wrote, would also get their name etched onto the new computer. I included a return form and a (stamped, if you were in Canada) return envelope. Most people did not respond to me at all. Many, to my surprise, responded positively. One friend wrote me these "encouraging" words: "I am deeply offended that you would ask friends for money to be put towards purchasing a material item such as a computer. ... Get a job, save your money and purchase your dream computer with your OWN money like every other person." She must have been having a narrow-minded moment because I know she likes Art and yo, you can't knock the hustle. So, I kept knocking on heaven's door as it was. With the help of those that responded positively to my asking for help, I raised half of what I needed. I chipped in the other half from my savings and I bought me a brand new computer. Now, for as long as I have my computer, I'll be happily bigging up the people who helped me fulfill my dream. If you click on their link and are interested in what they can offer and how they might help you be more richer, more sexier, more happier... I'll be happy to personally endorse and recommend any of them. If they aren't linked and you're curious about any of them, I'm happy to wax poetic about any of them; especially Joe Friday, he's A type ace and A+ abracadabra amazing. In short, they all rock like electric guitars jacked into massive amps cranked up to 10. Without them, this would not be and all this is A Dream Fulfilled anyway and I am Thankfully, tonik P.S. if you're not going to extremes with impossible schemes and feeling narrow-minded and bitchy this morning click here and don't lose your sense of humour over it... it's just Art.
